7 Things You Can Do During The Lockdown

Updated: May 30, 2021

COVID-19 has rained on our parades and 2020 is nothing like what we expected! Exams, school, college, get-togethers, family trips, lunches at fancy restaurants, all remain a big question mark right now. And so the mind wonders, “what can I possibly do sitting 24*7 at home?” Well, here are a few suggestions to make your quarantine enjoyable and productive!

1. Cooking: Pick one easy recipe each day and let your latent culinary talent come out! Be it the dalgona coffees, the mug cakes, or the banana cakes, they’re all very interesting to cook and also make for an aesthetic Instagram story! Some other dishes you can try to make are salads, pizzas, momos, sundaes, and cookies. The list is endless if you set your heart at it.

2. Reading: The humdrum of our busy lives never gave us enough time to read. What better time to catch up on all our reading than this quarantine? Pick an unread book of yours or choose one from your parents’ or sibling’s collection and dive in!

3. Cleaning: Clean every nook and corner of your house and your room, it definitely makes you feel lighter, takes up a good amount of your time if done right, and oh, just beautifies your environment.

4. Studying: While the status of examinations remains uncertain at the moment, do not forget that they will happen some time or the other, there’s no escaping this! So stay in touch with your course books and do little by little, every day.

5. Online courses and classes: There are so many courses available on the internet like training in Adobe Photoshop, data analytics, content writing, coding, etc. Pick a course of your choice, follow it through and you'll be able to add another skill to your repertoire. Even if you're interested in dance, there are so many artists out there taking up online classes, even free ones! You do not want to miss this opportunity if you want to hone your talent and learn something new.

6. Internships: While the entire country is under lockdown, virtual or work from home internships are still available! Research online, find a befitting internship, and get going!

7. Working out: The evergreen fear of putting on weight has been heightened in this period. You can't go out to the gym, are home all day, and will probably find yourself munching on something every now and then. An easy solution to this is to exercise for half an hour to 1 hour each day, just to keep your mind and body healthy and active!

We’re all in this together. Don’t stress about the lockdown, rather, use this time to work on yourself and cultivate and nurture good habits! Stay safe!
